On 2 October 2022, Kundwa Health joined residents of Kageyo Sector, Gatsibo District to commemorate World Contraception Day 2022. The day served as a vital reminder that family planning is not only about women—it is a shared responsibility between men and women, communities, and health systems.
During the event, participants engaged in discussions about the importance of family planning in improving health outcomes, reducing unplanned pregnancies, and enabling young people and families to plan for a brighter future. Health experts emphasized that access to contraceptive information and services is a basic right, and when communities are informed, everyone benefits.
Special focus was given to breaking myths around contraception and ensuring that men are equally engaged in family planning conversations. When men and women stand together in making informed choices, the ripple effects include stronger families, healthier communities, and more opportunities for youth to pursue education and personal growth.
One participant noted: “Before, I thought family planning was only for women, but today I’ve learned that men have a big role too, and together we can support each other.”
As part of our ongoing commitment, Kundwa Health continues to advocate for inclusive, accessible, and youth-friendly family planning services. Our vision is a Rwanda where every young person, regardless of gender, has the knowledge and tools to make informed decisions about their future.
