FunHealth Wins “Most Innovative Solution” at Africa CDC Youth in Digital Health Bootcamp

In July 2025, Kundwa Health proudly represented Rwanda at the Youth in Digital Health Network mHealth Bootcamp in Accra, Ghana, organized by the Africa CDC and its partners. The bootcamp brought together brilliant young minds from across the continent to co-create solutions that harness digital technologies for better health outcomes.

Our Co-founder, Dr. Eric Niyongira, engaged in expert-led sessions covering a range of topics, including mHealth app development, artificial intelligence integration, data privacy, interoperability standards, and sustainable digital health business models. These sessions provided valuable insights into how youth-driven innovations can align with broader health system strengthening.

The highlight of the bootcamp came when our flagship platform, FunHealth, was recognized as the “Most Innovative Solution”. This recognition is a testament to the power of youth-led innovation in bridging gaps in access to sexual and reproductive health (SRH) and mental health services through gamification and digital technology.

Motivated by this achievement and equipped with new knowledge, our team is more determined than ever to scale FunHealth. Our vision is to ensure that young people across Rwanda and eventually Africa have access to comprehensive, youth-friendly, and confidential health services integrated seamlessly into existing healthcare systems.

At Kundwa Health, we believe that when young people are given the right tools and opportunities, they can drive Africa’s digital health transformation forward. Winning this award is not the end, but the beginning of an exciting journey to scale our impact.
